This is the crux of the problem for policies like a ban on children using social media. While most people can agree that social media is bad for the youth, a blanket ban is the wrong solution for a multitude of reasons, and people are failing to think of the second and third order effects. To enforce a blanket ban, you'll have to upload your ID. Best case, we've completely killed privacy on the Internet as every account you have, even if you're an adult, will be tied to your ID. Worst case, all of the above AND kids will find a way to beat the system so it won't work anyway. This also establishes a precedent of the state taking over a responsibility (i.e. monitoring what your kids are doing) that should be the jurisdiction of the parent. This type of power can easily be abused in the form of the state trying to push a certain biased narrative or ideology on the youth. Before you say this can't happen, it has happened in history numerous times already. Every authoritarian state has some sort of method of using access to media to shape the youth. In the case of this UK law, X is banned for the youth while platforms like Bluesky are exempt. It is widely known that Bluesky has a heavy leftist tilt. Even if you don't believe that the state is trying to push any certain ideologies at the moment, I think it is pretty clear there there is at least huge potential for abuse here. Overall this is a really bad direction to go in.

It is during moments like these that I see the "Bitcoin is going to zero" posts again. It happens every cycle, it's always proven wrong later, and the people who say it are always the extremely self-satisfied types who nonironically believe they've arrived at some great revelation no one has been able to figure out before. Bitcoin will only go to zero if there's no longer anyone left on the planet who believe it has value. I've talked to many Bitcoiners, many of them have a much greater percentage and/or absolute amount of their wealth in Bitcoin than me. You think they're calling it quits here? You think they'll call it quits even if Bitcoin hits $20k? If not, there's nothing to be worried about.

There is infinite demand for high quality content. Companies like Disney have gotten complacent and lazy and believe they can just put out anything that has an established IP and make money. Although it can work in the short term, long term this is failing strategy.
