On Energy: France a country of 65 million people generates 4x more electricity than all 47 countries in sub-Saharan Africa with a population of 805 million. On Trade: moving a ton of fertiliser from a port in the United States (9000km away) to the port of Mombasa costs $40, but moving the same ton of fertiliser from the port of Mombasa to Kampala a mere 1000kms costs $120. It costs 30 times more to move cargo between African borders than it costs to move to African ports. Should we continue blaming the colonisers?
