So pleased to join Oasis Waterloo Community Hub and see the brilliant work they do to support local people. During this difficult time, more and more people need these warm spaces, advice centres, food and clothes banks and community cafes. Thank you for all you do.
🧵 We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and yet people in the UK are going without the essentials we all need to get by. We can’t always deal with what life throws at us on our own, and we need a system in place that supports us all. ⤵️
Nobody should dread getting their period because they don’t have enough money left over after buying food to buy tampons and pads. Yet for many women, this is their monthly reality. Essentials are not things we can cut back on, they’re the things we all need to survive. 💚
We’re really proud of our amazing team who have delivered over 1,000 parcels this week, but as ever, longing and working for the day this response isn’t needed. Thank you to everyone who donated or volunteered!
So we have packed and delivered 1030 parcels with last few going out door now. 27 tonnes food given away. How sad in 2022 we had to do this but thanks to amazing staff and volunteers for all your efforts over 5 days. @WaterlooFB @VauxhallFB @cpfoodbank @BrixtonFoodbank Well done
