What defines a man is his constraints. Real politics is about what you can’t leave behind. This is why the praise of power, wealth, and intelligence, is meaningless to understand what a person ACTUALLY believes. This is also why I immediately check out the second I get the sense that a commentator is trying to “join the winning side” of an argument. In order to UNDERSTAND a political actor, I need to know his values/loyalties. And “I like power” or “I am Elite Human Capital”, or “I f-cking love Science!” Doesn’t tell me anything about a man other than that he is willing to simp for power. The values of the sociopath.

@HariSel57511397 Do you think in a generation or two it could evolve? I'm reminded of historical hymn writers taking the tunes of various bar and pub songs and overlaying them with Christian lyrics. Today they are seen as traditional pieces. Could future writers do something similar?

@HariSel57511397 Ah, interesting. I've never heard that before. I can see how you guys would see it that way. In more evangelical circles, fiction is largely centered on the earth because they believe that certain places are essential prophetically so can't be destroyed. Cool stuff.
