Public comment is finally starting! Sadly, many tenants and community members who waited to give comment had to leave because they had to go back to work. @LACityCouncil we need you to do better, we refuse to be silenced!
This actually slaps but no reason it couldn’t have been done AFTER public comment. There at least 100 people here to talk about how we’re being crushed by rent debt and we’re literally accumulating more rent debt sitting through now two hours of presentations and proclamations.
So many people turned out that most of us didn’t get in. We’re still waiting to speak. Lots of people left b/c they couldn’t get the afternoon off. City Council 100% does this on purpose to shut us out and shut us up. x.com/keeplahoused/s…

Nothing against a nice oud recital, but friends, it’s almost noon and public comment hasn’t started yet. They do this every Friday. Last week it was a ceremony for a recycling bin. We shouldn’t need to take a whole day off work to comment on things that affect us directly.
