"Religious liberty" doesn't mean you get to impose your religion on everyone else. Quite the opposite.
And to drive home that point, the Founders included the Establishment Clause in the First Amendment -- to ensure that no religion could be legally mandated, federally or in any state.
@TristanSnell true separation: i'd like 'god' removed from our currency and for houses of faith to be assessed property taxes.
@TristanSnell @DaleKanzler Then why do Christian conservatives insist this is a Christian nation? Where are they getting this from?
@TristanSnell Yeah, that's true. So what? Do you see anyplace that people are being forced to be Jewish, Catholic, or Buddhist? If so, point us to it.
@TristanSnell The classic definition of Religious freedom protections it's a shield not a sword.
@TristanSnell Actually, it kinda does. There is no law Congress can pass to restrict our right to practice (See 1st Amendment). However, we don't do that. We share and IF the individual does not want us to share further, we are allowed by the grace of God (not the government) to go in peace.
@TristanSnell Which is why you can't force churches to engage in religious acts that are against their religion.
