The Rangers are adding Will Venable to the coaching staff in a position I’ve never heard of before: “Associate Manager”
Venable played for the Rangers in 2015, and one notable role he played was “guy who subbed in for Mike Napoli in left field if the Rangers had a lead after, even like, about four innings, because man was Napoli ever Not A Left Fielder”
@ThreeTwoEephus @Ken_Rosenthal Is that like a customer service manager?
@ThreeTwoEephus He’s a smart baseball mind, why not create a way to get him in the clubhouse
@ThreeTwoEephus I guess I’m a little surprised they’re doing this but still don’t have a pitching coach
@ThreeTwoEephus So glad you said that, I thought I was the only one that was clueless about it
@ThreeTwoEephus I think Ray Knight was Associate Manager for the Reds in 1995 when Davey Johnson was Manager. Basically Manager in waiting
@ThreeTwoEephus @Ken_Rosenthal Surprised they didn't name offensive and defensive coordinators.
@ThreeTwoEephus @Ken_Rosenthal Probably similar to Dwight’s position as Assistant (to the) Regional Manager.
