The Tyne and Wear team had a fantastic day working with a group of international volunteers from ICOS in collaboration with @durhamwildlife and @StrongerShores. These were a team of people with English as a second language working to connect with the nature of the UK!🦪🦪🦪

Martina and Blair from the Stronger Shores team at Durham Wildlife Trust have been out seagrass surveying this week, and today they are at Amble in Northumberland on the hunt for this elusive wonder plant 🌱 @EnvAgency @durhamwildlife

Location Spotlight - Trow Quarry Trow Quarry used to be a quarry and then a landfill site. It has been eroding over time. Stronger Shores funding will help support PhD students to monitor kelp in this area and investigate its potential for coastal protection @newcastlemarine

The team had a great day yesterday spreading the message about all things Stronger Shores! Emily delivered a presentation at Sunderland's West Area Voluntary and Community Sector Network Meeting and Blair presented to the wildlife group at Hauxley Nature reserve in Northumberland

If you're free this weekend, come along to Terrace Green in Seaham on Saturday 11am-3pm for the 'Seaham Sea Saviours' event our local young people have been working on. They will be showcasing interactive art to raise awareness about ocean plastics and keeping our seas clean🌊🏖️

#WorldRewildingDay emphasizes the importance of rewilding projects. A key part of this is the revival of depleted seagrass and native oysters. Stronger Shores partners are like @Wild_Oysters are on the frontline of this vital work, bringing oysters back to the North Sea.🌍🌊
