This morning I tweeted about a book that I'd borrowed from the library. The author responded. He works for the NYT so this tracks with their whole vibe. Despite enjoying it I'm not going to finish it. Because as a writer myself, I say without hesitation libraries rule.
Because a lot of people asked: I took down the original tweet because it was complimentarily of the book and after his response I didn't want to give him any promotion.
@SouthPhillyJays You really thought better of a man whose lastname is COPEland. :P
@SouthPhillyJays I sorta wanna know what book it was so I can avoid selecting it for our library’s collection but it’s better that I act unbiased. As a librarian I won’t be petty… but as a reader, I can’t support that viewpoint.
@SouthPhillyJays Well deserved. No need to give him more attention. If he can’t appreciate people just enjoying his book, he deserves no recognition demanding you buy it. 🙄
@SouthPhillyJays Terrible someone would want to be compensated for their work
