Architects clearly not blameless, but until public clients accept some responsibility for not accepting abnormally low fees, this culture will continue. Adding arbitrary social value targets whilst squeezing fees completely undermines any aspirations to deliver this social value.

@guardian Two kids with coughs and colds. No tests available for the next 5 days at any of our nearest three test centres, one of which is 150miles away. No walk in tests. No post tests. Fucking appalling. No school restart for us.

Pro dad tip: when your child shows you a drawing, don't ask "what is it?", Say "tell me about it". It's the same conversation without the shame of you not being able to tell what it is, AND recognising that they might be drawing without trying to represent something.

Oldest door in Britain. Installed Westminster Abbey 1050AD from a tree already several centuries old. When this door was a tree Alfred the Great was fighting the Vikings. Now electric cars pass it every day.

The old Ramsgate airport terminal was a bit of a stunner. Designed by David Pleydell-Bouverie, former partner of Wells Coates, in 1937 and demolished in the 1960s.
