Steven’s Point Brewery’s email strategy is missing some fundamentals:
- No welcome email or onboarding for new subscribers
- No real cadence. Three emails in four months won’t build engagement or memory
- No clear CTAs. The only links are hidden inside images.
How I’d fix it:
- Add a simple 3-email welcome flow: set expectations, tell the brand story, then guide people to products/merch/where to find them locally.
- Pick a predictable send schedule. Choosing monthly or bi-weekly is better than “whenever someone remembers”
- One clear CTA per email. If the email is about non-alcoholic beers, send readers to your product pages or product finder.
Right now these emails feel disconnected. Email should keep the brand familiar so when someone’s standing in the aisle, your label isn’t forgotten.

How I see it, brands I work with that lead with story are going to see the benefit. Their emails will stand out in a flood of promos.
NFL Auction’s Black Friday email fell flat:
- Weak headline. “We found your shopping list” is too generic and has zero urgency.
- No product tease. If you’re selling memorabilia, show the goods! No images = no impulse.
- No dominant CTA. If readers have to scan for the action, they won’t take it.
Here’s how I’d fix it:
- Lead with 2–3 high-value items. Jerseys, signed balls, limited editions. Above the fold.
- Add a real reason to move now. “Ends Monday”, “Only 17 items under $50”, “Bids closing fast"
- One big clear CTA button
Email rule: People don’t click because you emailed them.
They click because you gave them a specific reason to act right now.
