Org data are messy, conditioned on a million things. “Useless” and “Perfection” exist on a continuum. We need antiracism and culturally responsiveness in schools and research for this very reason
@TraciLambert14 @RumChad @CECMembership @donnayford That’s a really generous read. There is already recognition from CEC re: the problematic cover. But to make clear- the headline and the photo play into the deficit narrative that Black boys are in need of policing and behavioral management.
@TraciLambert14 @RumChad @CECMembership @donnayford Most scholars, myself included, problem arise such statements as being woefully short sided in not recognizing the ways in which colonization and systemic racism lead to Black youth being viewed as problems rather than for their brilliance.
