@jamesonen Nomadic peoples are quite like that everywhere. They often conquer their more settledneighbors and then assimilate with them. Famous example are the Tartar Mongols who subdued all of Asian but became absorbed into the nations they conquered like China, Russia, Persia etc

According to the Nigeria Sun, Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie revealed that the death of her son, Nkanu, has changed her relationship with Nigeria. She no longer feels the same emotional connection to the country and does not want to return, citing medical negligence during her son’s treatment. Her feelings are perfectly understandable. I would probably do the same in her situation. However, I think Nigeria and African working people need voices such as hers to advocate for them and we hope she can find strength to recover(if it's at all possible) and continue the fight for the wellbeing of the community. She is still a huge asset for her country and Africa. Nevertheless, I cannot blame her if she choses not to turn back and hope wherever she ends up, she will find solace. @ChimamandaReal

I read last evening an article on the history of Eastern Orthodoxy in East Africa. The story begins in Uganda after WWI with a group of young men led by a one Reuben Mukasa, an ex KAR serviceman. One trivial detail in the story - the former Tanzanian capital, Dar-es-Salaam, is referred to by its Greek name - Irinopolis. Never heard that one before. That's when it occurred to me that the name Irina(Irene) means 'peace'.
