@Songstress28 Was told on a local chat by a yt guy the other day it’s “your men that are killing your women”. Trying to explain that colonial violence is killing Indigenous people just ended up with vitriol and racist filled comments People like him are the problem. And there are lots of them.

I hate taking Aboriginal law/TRC classes as a Metis person because you have to sit there as people use the Indian slur because that’s a legal term that has specific meaning in Canadian jurisprudence. Every time I’m reminded of when that word has been used to hurt me.

June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day reflection on the state of Indigenous languages like Nehiyawewin. As a 40 yo, 1st gen non-fluent Cree speaker I have had to resign from a job to focus on language learning. My dad is 72, if I don’t learn, our language in my family ends.
