Every button is a promise. Broken expectations hurt more than slow interfaces. Every label creates an expectation. If users click "Continue," they expect progress. If they click "Download," they expect a file. I once worked on a game where players had to press "Play Now" five separate times before they actually reached the game. By the time they started playing, they were already frustrated. A button isn't just an action. It's a contract. Every time you make users wonder whether a click actually did what it promised, you erode trust. Honour the promise.
