@octal Per the article Dahle was okay with cancelling the transaction. This is 100% on @SDFEventCenter & @ShastaSheriff. Per openjustice.doj.ca.gov/exploration/cr… -- Shasta has a... 2% property crime clearance rate and /this/ is the 2% they decide to focus on? How do they even justify the gas?

Anyways, thanks to the parasitic link between TikTok and Twitter our information systems are completely broken. The things we look at and talk about now are just random sensory inputs that are exchanged within an attention economy that ultimately doesn't mean anything.

@aspiringpeasant In civilized countries they just send you an invoice. They don't create a tax authority-tax preparation complex. Every year I spend days to weeks pushing paper just because it keeps paper pushers on the other side employed.

@aspiringpeasant In many ways, we're a victim of our own success. The US mass vaccination campaigns of the 1960s and 70s were so successful that we've now had a couple of generations of parents that have never seen these diseases up close and don't believe they're real.

My new hobby: finding public domain images that Getty sells for $500, locating hi-rez scans of their original publications, cropping and cleaning them up, adding metadata, and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons. First one: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fig_…

@danieldibswe Honest answer: Don't stack. A stack is a monolithic software stack that is it's own failure group. It also tends to complicate upgrades in very unhelpful ways. Just use a diverse set of upstream switches. If management of discrete devices is a concern you should automate.

@octal They weren't but I'm also happy to see JPow may have to face the music from the zero interest days as well. 0.5% to 5% in about a year might be too aggressive for many banks to survive.

@RobMcNealy @octal Bonuses were an already scheduled payment for last year. And they're going to need the money since everyone is losing their jobs. I have no issue with that.

I'd rather escape to anywhere... that doesn't try to tie me to search or social media history like you do: Please give us a self registration option that doesn't involve the FAANG companies.

@jontalton My niece has a few new friends in school from Seattle. It seems to be a trend. Then again -- the last time I was up there I had to enter the King County Courthouse through the back. Y'all okay?
