Normally @CityofCOS leads the way with home building in the Pikes Peak region, but that wasn't the case in June. @epccolorado_ actually led the way with 165 new single family homes. COS was next with 154, followed by Monument with 39, Fountain with 15, and Palmer Lake with 1.

This is not the announcement we wanted to make. Due to extreme fire danger, critically dry vegetation, and multiple large wildfires burning across Colorado, all permitted Independence Day fireworks displays in Colorado Springs have been canceled. This decision was made after careful evaluation by Mayor Yemi Mobolade, the Colorado Springs Fire Department, the Colorado Springs Police Department, and our public safety partners. Current fuel moisture levels in Colorado Springs are comparable to those recorded before the Waldo Canyon Fire, creating an extreme wildfire risk for our community. We know this is disappointing, especially as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States and Colorado's 150th birthday. We share that disappointment. But protecting our community, our firefighters, and our first responders has to come first. Our hope is to celebrate together when conditions are safe to do so. Thank you to our community and to our partners, including Sports Corp, for understanding and supporting this decision.
