#ActuallyAutistic #AskingAutistics - what’s your pain tolerance like? I have a high pain tolerance, and have broken bones and not gone to the doctor for it. Also, pain medication is useless to me, so if I am in extreme pain, I don’t have a medication that will help.
#ActuallyAutistic #AskingAutistics - does anyone else have bad reactions to medications/do medications work differently for you? Most of them don’t work as described on me, and I tend to have lots of side effects and allergies to medications.
@NeuroRebel Are you hypermobile? And do you have a lot of odd allergy responses? I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and have what you describe with meds
@NeuroRebel I can't take paracetamol but that's my fault
@NeuroRebel Oh yes! Reactions often vary between no effects and rare side effects. What’s extremely tough is when the doctors don’t believe you or imply the medicine's effects (or lack thereof) are psychological instead.
@NeuroRebel My body burns through pain medication super fast. It only ever lasts half as long as it is supposed to. Some things like morphine and tramadol don’t do anything at all for me. I was so confused for the longest time on how people got addicted because they didn’t do anything.
@NeuroRebel Yes same, I'm allergic to meds and always get asked why in hospital. I've noticed D also complains of aches etc and normal painkillers do nothing. I once wrote a long list of side effects of prednisolone and GP read it and said "well that's the opposite of what I usually hear"
@NeuroRebel My daughter couldn't metabolize these drugs and it was found that Tylenol would never help her pain. I think of the times doctors prescribed her that and it never would have helped. Try Motrin.Find a place that tests for this. #Genomind.
@NeuroRebel I was rarely ill as a child or as young adult. Once at 25 I got some penicillin. 1st time since small child. I had an allergic reaction. Not fun. Not fun at all!
