This 1905-07 card by a publisher called Denot based in Lorient gives a good sense of the expanse of the alignments at Menec in Carnac (Morbihan). Two women sit on the fallen menhir called “ringing stone” and cows graze among the 1,000 plus menhirs which still stand.

Just going through photographs from Tuesdays fieldwork in Kildare. The light was so perfect, it really showed off the carvings on the c1,000 year old high crosses. Like this lovely little donkey at Old Kilcullen – LOOK AT HIS GIANT EARS! More than half the size of the humans! 🫏
@NIPilgrim That's a perfectly fine way to go! One thing to consider is how much marketing support you might get from a traditional publisher. There's no one answer here: you might land a great deal that would make tradpub very worthwhile
@NIPilgrim As for my experience, self-publishing is full of highs and lows. Overall, I love the creative control, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

The 'Rusland Menhir', an standing stone outlier in the southern Lake District 🤩. With no other visible archaeology around, its age remains a mystery. However, there is a small mound / cairn underneath it, suggesting it may be prehistoric #archaeology #travel #lakedistrict
