When one of my ears was very close to a helium balloon 🎈, I was surprised by how well the sound of my voice was canceled out from that side. A balloon with air doesn't do the trick. Any other object I tried didn't have the same effect as well. Why? #Physics #curious

@Sneffleupagus I can't agree more with you on this. With my younger one I skipped memorizing facts and first watched him slowly adding all numbers, then coming up with all sort of shortcuts, then reaching automaticity. It took a few months but now he's confident and know how and why it works.

@DavidCalculin @AoPSNews @Cshearer41 Sure, it's a quick little trick assuming the puzzle has all necessary info. Otherwise, we would need an angle or something else to "fix" the inclination, which the puzzle doesn't provide.

@PeterHayesLLB @MottyStone @CmonMattTHINK I believe Matt knows how to do it but he wants her to explore and either figure it out on her own or arrive at a wrong conclusion. Then, I guess, something like 4 and 2 comes by, which is a very neat way to start talking about GCD. Great activity!
