I'm no prude and, despite it being a shiny looking mess, I actually quite liked Saltburn. However, did we really need to see him drinking fluid filled (for lack of a better term) bath water? I mean, come on. It didn't help that I was still reeling from the vampire 'period' scene.

Memento, The Prestige, and Inception made me believe that Christopher Nolan is a genuinely great filmmaker. However, Dunkirk, Tenet and Oppenheimer are now seriously making me doubt that. Why does he no longer realise that great films need interesting characters?

I quite enjoyed 'Black Phone' but it had the potential to be so much more. All the ingredients were there to make a genuinely scary horror film. However, for some reason, they didn't push it as far as they could/should have. Hawke's creepy performance deserved better.

'Everything Everywhere All At Once' left me feeling exactly how I felt 18 years ago when I watched 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind': I've never seen anything quite like it before and it may well be brilliant. However, personally, just a bit too weird for my taste.

Although it's nowhere near as good as critics made it out to be, I still very much enjoyed 'X'. It'll be too slow and weird for some people, however, if you're a fan of old-school slashers, it should be right up your street. I mean, lots of sex & killings, what's not to like😉.

Is it just me or has there been a serious lack of good horror films in the last year, or so? I'm really struggling to think of any...'The Night House', 'Malignant' and 'Sputnik' were decent but, other than those, it's slim pickings. Any recommendations?

I thought that 'No Exit' was a solid little thriller. Well acted, pretty intense and never boring. Don't expect too much and I think you'll enjoy it.

I watched 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' last night and, to be honest, I quite enjoyed it. It's silly, fast-paced, gory fun. I mean, it's pretty much just Leatherface killing loads of people in different, gruesome ways for 80 minutes. What's not to like? I don't get the hate.

I may be the only person on here who isn't excited about the new Batman film. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch it (at some point). However, I really don't think the world needed another Batman reboot just yet. It'll make a shedload of money though, so, who cares what I think.

I thought the new Scream was OK. Better than most of the other sequels. Some of those new characters though, jeez, it was a relief when they got stabbed. 6/10 and that's pretty generous.

I'm rewatching 'Sunshine' and, I'll be honest, I'd forgotten just how good of a cast it has: Cillian Murphy (obviously), Rose Byrne, Chris Evans, Benedict Wong, Michell Yeoh, Cliff Curtis..That's some serious talent. Just a shame that the story goes batshit crazy in the 2nd half.

Well, the remake of 'The Guilty' was, at best, unnecessary. At worst, I'd say it was rather sh*te. Has a US remake ever been better than the original? The Departed, perhaps?
