Nevada legislators have just introduced a bill to give $380 million in public taxpayer dollars to the Oakland Athletics to build a ballpark on the Las Vegas Strip.
@LasVegasLocally Tax increment financing is more complex than that. It’s a self financing incentive based on the value of the project. It’s somewhat like paying for college with the GI Bill, but on a grand scale. Without the soldier, there is no graduate.
@MitchAbides This is the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana, not the middle of the desert. The deal is a massive loss of tax revenue for Southern Nevada residents.
