Nevada legislators have just introduced a bill to give $380 million in public taxpayer dollars to the Oakland Athletics to build a ballpark on the Las Vegas Strip.
@LasVegasLocally Tax increment financing is more complex than that. It’s a self financing incentive based on the value of the project. It’s somewhat like paying for college with the GI Bill, but on a grand scale. Without the soldier, there is no graduate.
@LasVegasLocally Does this mean a tax on the tax of the resort fees and tax on parking, along with a tax on the tax of the original room tax.
@LasVegasLocally Take that, terrible school system!
@LasVegasLocally Do we get to vote on it next year or do the bureaucrats get to decide
@LasVegasLocally This is lame af - so much better uses than this
@LasVegasLocally Does this mean we aren't getting any relief at the gas pump?
@LasVegasLocally 1/10000th of our money that was given to the Ukraine and illegal border jumpers
@LasVegasLocally I vote no… My tax dollars can be better spent…
@LasVegasLocally fox5vegas.com/2023/05/26/oak… It’s $25 million in actual county taxpayer dollars, $120 million in county bonds (think of it like a credit card that the As are responsible for), $180 million in Nevada tax credits.
