@MetisMamaMB One of the biggest frustrations for me as an educator is that social services are not working together. I often think about how much better a student and their family could be supported if their circle of care came together.
Kiddo’s school reached out to the community today to let us know they’re seeing high rates of absenteeism and are working with public health. What’s the trigger number for an email like that? 20%? 30%?
Justin Trudeau has one hell of a lot of nerve for insisting health care money be spent on health care. Next he’ll say all that COVID cash was supposed to be used for COVID.
@julespenner We applied mid-July for my child. We were told end of October. Still waiting and requested a transfer two weeks ago. We haven’t heard anything since.
I remember a football coach who could tell when the players needed a break from the structure of practice. So he would occasionally let them play w/ no coaching or drills, just kids doing what they love. Sometimes, we need that in the classroom. Sometimes we need that as adults

@MetisMamaMB I completely agree. I have seen the success of full-day Kindergarten and believe me, it was SO worth it. I will ask you to dig a little deeper on the nursery front. It needs to be accessible to ALL students.
@MetisMamaMB I agree, but we need to ensure there’s enough spaces to meet the need. One of my kiddos got into the school daycare, but he had to be put on the list when I was 4-months pregnant!

One thing about TRC day is that the celebratory tone some people take around it really unsettles me. Sept. was chosen, in part, bc it’s when children would be taken back to ‘schools’. It was the “month of crying”. There should be at leastsome element of solemness.

@Zach_Fleisher I also lost quite a few pounds during my stay. Finally, a nutritionist took pity on me and asked what I needed. Cold cereal and fruit. That’s what I needed. Gourmet meals aren’t needed, but food should be part of the healing process.
Friendly back to school reminder: When kids show up late for school, they still showed up. Thank them, not scold them. “I’m happy you’re here" goes a very long way.
@WabKinew In all fairness, this is not a new problem. I lost tons of weight 18 years ago during my hospitalization. A nutritionist was passing by and asked what I would eat. It was a cheap fix. We should focus on giving choice and simple comforts to promote healing.

The fact that when Rogers goes out, it knocks out ATMs, Non cash payment abilities, 911 services, internet and mobile from almost all of Canada should be the warning sign that monopolies put Canadian citizens at unnecessary risk
