@averagearc Are we really calling a commodity dev board with a silk screen "original work"?

@i2cjak I mean making an ESP32 dev board isn't really based, it's more like EE Larp.

@realwillreil Am I missing something here? It's just a dev board? Not some special design, you can get ESP32 dev boards for about $15 all day long.

@SchizoNyorai @iWontTry_ @FloridaNoticer @richphotoio Maybe, but ride ops and maintainence of safety items are two completely different areas. Maintainence is usually audited by some kind of government entity, and the manufacturers have set replacement schedules the operator must adhere to in order to pass those audits.

@CapitalistColts @FloridaNoticer @richphotoio I think the least bad for them would be an out of spec part. Soft heat treat or shallow teeth or something like that. Failing from fatigue would mean either B&M's maintainence schedule is wrong or SF ignored it. Both worse than a bad part IMO.

@1ishmann @iWontTry_ @FloridaNoticer @richphotoio Just speculating. But the locking paws on the latch probably gave out. Could be fatigue, bad heat treat, out of spec manufactured parts, bad design. We won't know until those parts are pulled off and taken to a lab for inspection.

@iWontTry_ @FloridaNoticer @richphotoio My guess is component failure. What kind of failure is going to determine how bad the response is. Fatigue failure?Everyone services their B&M clamshells early and the replacement schedule is changed. Static overload failure? They're all down till a design change is implemented.

@FloridaNoticer @richphotoio That shouldn't be possible. B&M Clamshells need 2 clicks before the sensors fire and allow a train to go. It shouldn't matter how big he was, if it got 2 clicks it SHOULD be secure.

@Treetrik Reminder that the specific insulin covered by that patent is still extremely cheap, it's just obsolete and kinda shit.

@samuel_hayden_ @DboneSmacky "80% of the capability" is not a claim of being better, it's a claim of being "almost as good" or in other terms "worse".

@DualTubeNV @ArmedJ0y Because in many states a loaded gun in a vehicle is considered a concealed weapon.

@Yuri6Actual Keep atleast a few braced pistols around. In a lot of states you can't conceal carry a rifle or SBR, but a braced pistol is completely fine.

@a_burly_gnoll @ShamashAran Or really to just make it really fucking messy to try an enforce down the road.

@ShamashAran The court order is still in effect, so as long as you're a GOA member you're fine even if the next admin changes ATF policy.

@emm0sh I wouldn't, i would specify a Class 12.9 because no new designs should use imperial bolts unless legacy parts are a factor. But 12.9/Gr8 99% of the time, because if i'm setting it up in the system and stocking it I want to be able to use it for the most possible future uses.

@OSHBuilt @3sloth3 Do some research on Terramite. Their design philosophy was to use COTS components everywhere possible, only making custom parts for structural components. Reverse engineering one of their models might be a good starting point for an OSH+COTS excavator.

@starman238 @Fat_Electrician You never paid into anything. Because there was nothing to pay into. You were taxed to pay existing retirees. And politicians didn't squander it, Social security has always been hand to mouth just paying our recipients. The notion that it was stolen for other uses is a myth.
