@steelmarketnews I wish those wars would end today! None of them started by US btw. And using your example of EU needing a stronger US not to fail, without the US money defending Ukraine there would not be EU today... which would not be great for US. This is what I mean by educated society.

@BurggrabenH Very interesting! I'm curious what numbers you use for the debt to GDP ratio, as I get a far lower multiple for 2023... I'm using 11.3 trillion RMB for debt vs 6.1T for GDP growth. 3.1 central gov, 2.5 local govs, 5.7 private
@ed_fin That's fine, I'm just saying that graph of lower domestic iron ore production is showing a very small decline, which will do very little for more seaborne import volumes, given that it is not certain steel production in China will remain at today's level or higher
@ed_fin That's exactly my point, that decline in Chinese domestic iron ore production will have a very small impact on higher demand for international imports. And as you said, a lot of new supply coming online...

@AllVentured how much is the expected increase in demand? If it is similar to the growth in fleet size not much of a change to the balance supply vs demand... also that deletion forecast for 2024 way higher than the last 2 years looks optimistic!

@DryBulkETF I thought China was exporting steel as they don't need it, giving low domestic demand... look at the last time they exported so much steel in 2015/16. What happened to freight back then? 😬
