Robust El Niño coupling is here. The Bjerknes feedback is in full force, as ocean temperatures and surface winds reinforce one another and amplify El Niño. Rising air will elevate hurricane and typhoon risks across the Pacific into July, with reduced Atlantic storm chances.

Dikkat gereken soru SST'nin nerede yoğunlaştığı maksimize olduğu sadece yüzeysel bakarak tek bir bakışla ne kadar sıcak olduğu değil; enerjinin atmosfer içine nerede ve nasıl bırakıldığıdır. Kısaca ; İklim sisteminde büyüklük kadar geometri de önemlidir. Bazen sonucu belirleyen şey anomali olmaz, anomalinin konumudur.

🚨Hard to overstate how ominous this looks. Niño 3.4 SSTs are already at 29.27°C by June 13, with daily records being obliterated across early/mid June. El Niño is a natural phenomenon. But this is now unfolding on top of a human-warmed ocean background — and that extra heat is helping push the system into record territory.
A moderate Eastern Pacific (EP) El Niño typically concentrates diabatic heating into a single dominant convective source, generating a stronger and more coherent Rossby Wave Source (RWS), organized wave activity flux, and more robust extratropical teleconnections. In contrast, CP/Modoki events often feature multiple competing heat sources, producing dispersive wave propagation and a less coherent atmospheric response.
