Widespread cooling across Atlantic MDR region (blue areas) and probably some of the coolest waters there in some time. This is a key area to watch as seasonal hurricane forecasts are refined next several weeks.
Continued cooling over the El Niño regions. We are on the way out and now our attention shifts to the potential development of La Niña.
First forecast from @philklotzbach and the CSU team. No surprises here calling for an extremely active season. Phil said this was the highest forecast originating in April ever since these forecasts started in 1995.
It would be shocking to see a forecast for anything less than an above average season. Also expecting the forecast to show higher than normal chances of landfall around Caribbean/FL regions.

This is something to watch for next week. Still some diffs though among computer models. Watching for #surf impacts.

Computer models have severely undercalled the swell at the 41002 buoy. Surf for much of FL going to be couple to few feet over computer models.
The front over the NATL currently covers around 8000 miles. Crazy to think the clouds over me are attached to a storm located off the tip of Greenland.
New story out from run of swell in the Caribbean first half of February. This caught my eye - has to be up there as one of the biggest airs anyone has ever seen. Just massive.
Using our multi cam feature to watch the swell fill in for South Florida. Swell filling in further by the minute and looking pretty good.
There is pretty good agreement that some sort of low/storm forms next week. However there are large difference among trusted models on specifics. We'll be watching this closely for any #surf impacts. Expect the surf forecasts to shift around, potentially quite a bit.
Not sure what @ametsoc was thinking holding the yearly conference in a city with one of the highest violent crime rates in the US. Now our family gets a week worried about the safety of a mom/wife. Oh yeah - weather in Orlando is beautiful.
This is not the kind of SSTA forecast you want to see heading into and through hurricane season. If this were to verify we would likely be looking at a hyperactive Atlantic Hurricane Season in 2024.
