March Madness is one of the greatest sporting events in the world. It's also a masterclass in coaching if you pay attention closely. Here are 5 lessons for coaches from March Madness 👇 👇 👇
#1: There's not just one way to do it There's not just one way to coach!
Not only is there not just one way when it comes to tactics and strategies, which is obvious when you watch various styles experience success, but there's also not just one way when it comes to the other critical aspects of coaching: leading, motivating, connecting, etc
The key is that our coaching is authentic*. Athletes have really good B.S. detectors. We must be our authentic selves if we want to earn and keep their trust. And coaching is all about trust!
*Obviously our coaching should not harm our athletes, be it physically, emotionally, or mentally. There not being one way to coach is not a license to coach in a way that harms people.
