@tylercoston It's that journey, filled with moments of connection, struggle, triumph, conflict, and hope, that makes coaching teams so special. One of the most rewarding and special parts of coaching is that we get to go on a journey with our team's each season. It's about the journey.

@tylercoston #5: The journey is the destination The journey is the destination. The thing that makes these moments so special for players and coaches in the tournament is the journey that brought them to that point.

@tylercoston Our teams need to know we believe in them collectively and individually! Few things are more powerful than hearing someone say they believe in you. Plant the seeds of belief in your team early and often!

@tylercoston As soon as they won that game, he went into the locker room and began planting seeds of belief in his team about their ability to beat Purdue. He knew his team had to believe they could do it to even have a chance.

@tylercoston FDU's Coach, Tobin Anderson, talked repeatedly to his team and to the media about the importance of belief in their success. FDU actually had to play in a play-in game against another 16 seed before they had their shot at Purdue.

@tylercoston #4: Belief Matters In case you missed it, the #16 seed Farleigh Dickinson University (FDU) knocked off the #1 seed Purdue in the first round. It was only the second time in men's tournament history that a #16 seed has beaten a #1 seed.

If EGBs matter to you, find a coach, players, or parent to help you track them. If _________ (fill in the blank with an important stat for your sport) matters to you, measure it! As my friend @tylercoston says, "Measurement is Magic."

I know we all find ourselves in unique coaching contexts and often we feel we don't have the capability to measure things that we'd like to during a practice or game, but honestly, we need to stop making excuses and find a way to measure what matters.

Furman cares about it, so they measure it. Every at that point in the game, when most coaches would have talked about their shooting percentage or turnovers, he stayed focused on what matters to their team.
