"We'd love you to be the last nutrition company you ever signed with, to the end of your career. That's the attitude we go into every arrangement with." — Andy Blow on building the roster behind some of the most accomplished endurance athletes in the world. Full episode out now.
I broke the #1 rule of software: never make a public facing change on a Friday afternoon.
Sorry to anyone who was hoping to listen to newer episodes of @ForTheLRPod or @LongRunLabs this weekend. Migrating to a new podcast host and... it needs some fixing.
Down to their last $2,000. A container of product about to get burned on a dock. No turning back.
That's where Precision Fuel and Hydration was not that long ago.
Now they're crewing course records and running a global Ironman partnership.
Andy Blow on Long Run Labs.
A lot of ambitious people are great at seeing what's missing and terrible at recognizing what's already there.
Christian Rawles on why fulfillment often has less to do with achievement and more to do with appreciating what you've already built.

A woman in her 40s died at mile 78 of the Cocodona 250 this month.
@randizuckerberg was on the course. She knew her. On @longrunlabs last week she said she can't think of a more important use for AI than catching distress patterns on remote courses before humans can.
Neither can I. Wrote up the thesis behind Laurel:

The best use case for AI in running isn’t coaching.
It’s the data layer underneath the sport. Real-time tracking, race-day storytelling, and the safety infrastructure that tells you where every runner actually is.
I’m an investor and advisor in Laurel, and I introduced @randizuckerberg to the company. We had a fun chat about it, and I shared some more thoughts in this writeup.

Gronkowski can move product. But nobody watching Sunday football is buying a wearable to improve their health.
Des Linden on why the endurance audience is different, and why non-endemic brands are starting to figure that out. Listen to the full episode on Long Run Labs.
A case study detailing a six month sponsorship that turned into a product seeding and market research opportunity with one of my sponsors... and what comes next!

Des Linden has won Boston, made Olympic teams, run across a desert.
The thing she has quietly built that not as many people talk about: a budding media business, almost entirely on inbound, almost entirely on instinct.
@des_linden on @LongRunLabs
@randizuckerberg talked about how endurance sports completely changed her relationship with ambition because races like Cocodona force you to find a deeper reason to keep going when nobody’s watching.
That applies to way more than running.

Are you pacing/crewing/volunteering at Western States?
My friends at @amazfitus want to hook you up with something special; the race isn’t as awesome without you! Let me know!
And if you’re racing… want to share a nice gift with your pacers and crew?!
Randi Zuckerberg helped build Facebook and has three Tony Awards. The Monday of the Met Gala, she wasn't on the steps. She was starting Cocodona, 250 miles in the AZ 🏜️
Finishing an ultra is becoming the flex that exits & board seats used to be.

Most podcast hosts can run ads.
We've built something different at @longrunlabs that includes seeding + market research infrastructure to generate competitive intelligence.
The data shapes product roadmaps and positioning, not just impressions.

This conversation on Long Run Labs with Christian Rawles puts words to something a lot of people feel but struggle to explain, especially high performers who are chasing the next thing. The “gap vs. gain” idea completely reframes progress in a way that feels a lot healthier.
Trail running has never had its Tinman Elite moment.
Until now.
New piece on why The Trail House is the most interesting content bet in endurance sports right now; and what it means for brands paying attention.

Still hitting the wall during your long runs or rides?
The answer might be in your sweat 🥵
I turned to @precisionfandh for a sweat test to evaluate the sodium content in my sweat.
Watch to see how simple this sweat test is, and head to Precision’s website to find out where you can get one done yourself.
Not taking in enough sodium can lead to cramping, elevated HR/effort based on a decrease in blood volume which can occur when sodium levels drop, brain fog or dizziness, and more broadly, bonking late in a race!
If success costs your health, your relationships, and the life you actually want, it’s worth asking what you’re really chasing.
Christian Rawles on redefining success.
