If I was trying to figure it out, I’d probably have AI make a list of all the commercial property management companies and email them/call them. Even better show up in person with a gift basket and just say hey I’m Jared I do parking lots, would love to do yours when the time comes. I’d also - spitballing here, probably find a way to have AI search for the largest property owners of commercial properties In my service area, find out the LLC that owns them and search that LLC on opencorporates.com if the registered agent is a person and not a law firm or another company, I’d mail them a letter to the address on file it’s probably the owner of the LLC. 1 step further, take the name throw it in skipgenie to skip trace their phone number and email and try to reach them that way. Seems like a couple good options!? Stupid simple id throw lawn signs on every job you do if you can and ask your customer if they have someone else they can intro you too that will need the service at some point.

Back on the brush today…. We are behind, it’s rained 6 out of the last 8 weeks. We have about a month of good weather left before it turns iffy and unknown. It’s crunch time so doing what I got to uphold the commitments to my customer - I’m leaving on vacation for a week with my side of the family next week too. Excited but stressed for that. Next year we will have more crews on the bench to combat this, lesson learned here. At least I got a good view

How should I be using AI in my painting biz? I’ve purposely avoided playing around to focus on shit that is actually important and moves the needle. Let others test and maybe I adopt after proof is my tactic. Anything out there I need to adopt? Grokbot is getting some good publicity

Success is glorious online. All sunshine and rainbows. This doesn’t get as much attention as it should. Great post. It’s lonely road building. It’s hard. Throw kids into it, even harder. You have to be intentional with everything you do. Master of your time. I can’t be spontaneous, there is always a million things planned out in my head to do, and choosing one over the other always has consequences. So like I tell my wife, we can do this but then this will have to happen.

I feel this amigo! Just passed year one full time and it’s crazy how my bad habits impact my life now. Still forcing myself to change some of them but, it’s me, myself and I who’s responsible for 90% of my stress and headaches. Actively growing out of the old habits into new ones is something I go to war with daily.

I honestly don’t know how business owners on here have time to post, tweet, whatever we’re calling it now. Let alone post and drop content with tons of value. I’m busy all day long. And by the time I sit down I have no creative brain left to even decipher what to put out to the world. I should figure it out tho, would love to connect with others on here.

I think there are two ways to look at subcontractors: 1. Subcontractors who have the wrapped van and are directly your competitors, kind of like you said. We do not work with these. If they are branded they are not a good fit for us. 2. Subcontractors who are really good at the work but have no idea how to properly run a business or source their own deals. When we look for subcontractors, we are looking for people who are really good at painting but have no idea (or do not want to deal with the headache of finding and sourcing their own jobs and all the communication that goes into those, which an owner would have to take care of). They just want work to show up, paint, and go home, and they make their money off of efficiency and low overhead. These are your ideal candidates. You have to filter through candidates but good ones are out there.

I've had this happen as well. I ended up finding a one-man show in town that I refer all my smaller jobs to. It sounds way better to the customer that you know it's not a right fit for us, but this guy can probably help you out, versus “We need to take more of your money to have us do the work” One man show refers us the bigger jobs he can’t handle alone quite often so it works out pretty good.

@ToddLlewellyn I think a lot of it is people seeking for a way to be competitive. Chasing that feeling they lost after high school / college. They have nothing to “be good at” and they choose this and fitness 🤷‍♂️
