Dr. Kissinger in the news... He is one of the remaining heavy, nasty, ideologically-committed-to-the-coup people,” Ms. Bernabeu said. “He is one of the big ones.” During the trial, Ms. Bernabeu said that Henry A. Kissinger, the former secretary of state, sent a letter to the court vouching for Mr. Fernandez. But the judge ignored it. Despite Mr. Kissinger’s outreach, support for Mr. Fernandez was fading inside the U.S. government. nytimes.com/2026/07/10/us/… via @NYTimes
It’s amazing how often this failure in mainstream media takes place. FDD has been the most prominent “think tank”promoting war with Iran for almost 20 years.
Mendacious neocon operatives continue to shape national media coverage of Iran. In this horrific and utterly gratuitous NYT piece, meant to justify horrific Israeli airstrikes on civilian infrastructure, most of US analysts quoted are from “think tanks” aligned with Likud. In one

The Gaza ceasefire envisioned a 20,000-strong peacekeeping force. Nine months later: "The promised ISF is struggling to deploy even an initial group of about 10 to 20 troops... the Moroccan soldiers, who were meant to deploy in June, are now expected within months and won't go into Gaza right away." wsj.com/world/middle-e…
Like sending at least half a million US troops to try to achieve “regime change”?
It’s always been crystal clear that the Iranian regime won’t give up its nuclear ambitions or stop funding its terrorist proxies. That’s why we need to make the tough decisions required for our national security.
More evidence that the hardline warmongers in both the US and Iran reinforce each other.
Ghalibaf continues to provide vital intelligence on the regime and IRGC military activities to the CIA and Mossad. It’s the only reason he is still alive.
This is a really important story. I hope folks take the time to read it. Some additional context to my quote from the article. A short 🧵
Breaking news: Secretary of State Marco Rubio has invited ministers from more than 60 countries to a meeting next week about what the Trump administration views as a major peril: the “resurgence of transnational far-left terrorism,” according to documents reviewed by The Post.
This is quite interesting, but then again none of Netanyahu’s major rivals offer a substantially different approach than his, and if they need to ally with the likes of Ben Gvir and Smotrich to secure office, they likely will.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government have led Israel into a dead end. For too long, the United States has confused being a strong ally with being a silent one. A blank check has come without expectations, accountability, or consequences. That approach has allowed Prime
I am old enough to remember when we were told that Sharon’s extremism was the biggest threat, and that replacing him with a less “reckless” leader would change everything. Whenever there is a need to rebrand Israel, the same script is used. PMs change, underlying policies remain.
- Netanyahu's extremism is the biggest threat to U.S. support for Israel. Even those who support Israel can't defend his government’s recklessness. It's not too late to change course, but time is running out. You can read the full speech here: rahmemanuel.substack.com/p/the-us-israe…

I’d be happy to respond to this post, but I’m still patiently waiting for Iran’s economy to collapse under the “maximum pressure” campaign and the naval blockade. I never realized that 12 or 13 days could feel like months... A suggestion to those Who are interested in the
This is why Mark was never recruited to be an intelligence analyst.
U.S. officials are leaking to the NYT to send a warning — not to Israel but to the regime in Iran. The message: compromise or you will be eliminated through an American green light of Israeli operations. This happened on Feb 28 and can happen again.
An incredible piece by Ronen Bergman and Yuval Robovich on how the Israeli security establishment was pressured to launder Netanyahu and Trump's lies about how successful the two wars on Iran were. Israeli security officials confirm they were pressure to tell lie after lie: 1) Trump called the nuclear sites "totally obliterated" hours after the strikes, before any damage assessment existed. A leaked Pentagon report contradicted him in two days. The White House then pressed Israeli intelligence to sign a document backing him. A senior official refused in a shouting match: "there's no way I'm signing this." If the truth came out, he said, "in the end we'll eat the whole thing." 2) The Atomic Energy Commission signed instead, though its director-general is no nuclear scientist. Its chief scientist called the document "at the very least significantly distorted" and forced in a caveat: the achievement holds only "if Iran does not gain access to nuclear material." Iran already held it, roughly 440 kilograms of fissile material, enough for about 11 bombs. 3) Netanyahu justified the war by claiming Iran was dashing for a weapon. Both the US March 2025 assessment and the Israeli picture held there was no active weapons group and no build order from Khamenei. "Not one moment, not a smoking gun," one expert said. A senior officer added: "the IDF ranks helped Netanyahu even though they knew the things were not true." 4) Netanyahu declared the missile threat removed. Israel hit roughly a third of the missiles; half the launcher array survived, including production components. A senior Aman officer said: "when Netanyahu announces we removed the dual existential threat, the system knows he's lying." Iran had 2,500 missiles at the start of round two, only 500 fewer than before. 5) Netanyahu said "we eliminated Iran's leading nuclear scientists." Nine were killed, four senior, out of hundreds. Yet an air operations chief called it cutting out "the brain of the entire project," holding his head as he said it. The professionals knew the scientific base was intact and served the narrative anyway. 6) The September BDA showed no site fully destroyed and the program set back months, not "generations." The IDF hid the results. Rafi Miron, former NSC deputy for technology, cut to it: "the highly enriched uranium, which embodies the first-order threat, remained under Iranian control." 7) In 2026 Netanyahu made regime change a war aim. Aman called it hopeless and its research chief formally objected. As the officer known as Michael put it: "he wants you to go for regime change, and not to bother him with anything else." When it failed, the IDF quietly redefined the goal to "creating conditions." In Israel, as in the United States, intelligence has been co-opted by the political echelon and their conclusions and statements are tailored to fit political needs. That is one of the reasons we see these disastrous strategic mistakes. The leaders don't want the truth. Netanyahu uses the military for his political needs and nothing else.
Not enough people are paying attention to this. The UAE is fueling the civil war in Sudan, arming the RSF who the Trump admin admits is committing a genocide. And yet, this admin refuses to hold them accountable. We should be asking why.
President Trump's financial disclosures yesterday showed that one big reason for his soaring income was a big payout from a UAE company. I hope that's not the reason he has been quiet about the UAE backing the RSF militia in Sudan as it engages in mass murder and mass rape. The
“Unknown” security forces in Tehran have arrested Iranian conservationists #HoumanJowkar and #SepidehKashani. Again, no clear charges and no explanation. They also detained Sepideh’s sister, Sima, who has MS. The couple had been caring for Sepideh’s father, who had just returned home from the hospital after a heart attack and has a chronic lung condition. #AnyHopeForNature
After another, quieter, week of layoffs impacting local staff, the Washington Post has now laid off all of its reporters who have covered Gaza full time since 2023. This is a choice about what coverage and whose voices matter.
Been laid off. Grateful for the experience, proud of my contributions giving voice to people from this part of the world, and forever cherishing the friendships I made and will never lose. Please connect with me if you think you have a suitable work opportunity for me.
This is extraordinary. The vast majority of the Board of Peace members support UNRWA.
This prediction of mine--from @JoelAchenbach's new Washington Post piece on the future of technology--will strike many people as crazy, but it's basically a corollary of things said by lots of AI observers, including the heads of the three big US AI companies.
Further proof that the BOP is driven by Israeli ideological objectives rather than the needs and interests of Palestinians in Gaza.
UNRWA has no place in the new Gaza. We are turning the page on the complex of perpetual aid dependency & conflict. The people of Gaza deserve better.
