@LeylaHannbeck @GMB @richardgaisford Agree, this is just cosmetics and PR. Won’t solve the funding crisis nor the lack of training. Pharmacists are available and accessible. We’re just drowning in work we shouldn’t be doing.
@LeylaHannbeck @GMB @richardgaisford As a pharmacy technician of many years its a shame it was potrayed like this, its true aim is unlocking the potential of pharmacy technicians who want this responsibility with the appropriate training. Increasingly departments are run by highly skilled pharmacy technicians.
@LeylaHannbeck @GMB @richardgaisford The govt is trying to get the work pharmacists do done for less, under the guise of empowering technicians. Let's get the funding defect of 40% reversed, then we can invest in our staff and free pharmacists up to undertake the roles they should be doing!
@LeylaHannbeck @GMB @richardgaisford Resolving the issue of funding in the sector must be the priority. Spreading responsibility to other colleagues will not solve these issues. It does not matter how responsibilities are shared if pharmacies continue to lose money and the number of closures increase.
@LeylaHannbeck @GMB @richardgaisford Excellent overview of the priorities facing community pharmacy and the realities of extending technician powers by Good morning Britain. AIMs CEO Dr Leyla Hannbeck clearly spelling out those priorities ,
