It is a human invention, created by humans and for humans. We collectively decide for whom it applies and where it starts/ends.

And all for the naive view that humans have a right to life that begins at conception? No such right exists.

There is a limit to how many children parents will have, the birth of a Downs child will typically prevent the birth of an additional future child.

No rules or rights are absolute either, we as a society collectively decide when human rights start (and end).

Frankly I find the argument that I should afford the same rights and value to a mass of half developed cells that I would to a sentient being to be absurd.

Your argument essentially boils down to a right to life begins at conception, no? I think no rights are absolute and I prefer to take an informed nuanced view over an oversimplified one.

@ZackRunning @isdatbeef @TMZ I think 2 trimesters is generally enough time for a mother to realize they are pregnant and decide if they want to keep it. I do think 3rd trimester abortions are ethical when the mother is at risk or there are severe disability risks for the child (like Downs) though.
@ZackRunning @isdatbeef @TMZ I generally support 1st/2nd trimester abortions and not 3rd trimester abortions (esp with fetuses that could be independently viable). I'm not strongly opposed to 3rd trimester abortions though because I do not view fetuses as sentient humans, but I need to draw a line somewhere.
