Amazing how many people in this country have internalized the idea that if you break the law, you don't just get arrested, but that police have the right to beat the shit out of you in the process, tase you, break your bones.
The “pro-life” view is a simple case of the perfect as the enemy of the good. Every baby is pure perfect potential. They want to protect the idea of this unmarred innocence to the point that they are blind to the good lives of women and girls that are destroyed by lack of access.
The true measure of strength is based on who you lift up, not who you beat down.

I like watching congressional committee hearings, briefings, depositions, or whatever else is on c-span, but I have never come away from watching one feeling like our elected officials have a realistic grasp of the issues at hand or how to use their levers of influence.

Once, I was showing this 15 y/o autistic boy how to take the bus to the library when 3 black girls got on. Turned out, my young friend had never seen a black person. He was floored; turned and said, “their faces!” And I was like, “Yeah, I know.” The ladies were very gracious.
