I'm sure it's not perfect, nothing is, but we can move towards better things, and powerful examples of co-ops and alternative models are out there. Her TikTok is linked in the original tweet, and I write about a lot of this at the link in my bio as well.
@JoshuaPHilll Sounds like she’s essentially operating the business like a worker-owned coop except it’s not a worker-owned coop? Why not just cooperatize I wonder…
@JoshuaPHilll Good luck making this work for construction and other hard labor work. If a skilled welder saw he got paid as much as the guy who just sweeps up the shop your skilled welder will either, not work as hard or walk out.
@JoshuaPHilll Anybody who ever worked in a company knows that not everybody is worth the same.
@JoshuaPHilll There are only 9 people who work there. Also, what happened to incentive-based raises? Who is going to work harder knowing the person who slacks off all day will take home the same amount of money?
@JoshuaPHilll So did all the workers pay for the starting equipment or did the CEO foot the bill?
@JoshuaPHilll CEO - LOL. 10 people doing the same thing.
@JoshuaPHilll There are issues though. Worker coops have always been allowed in capitalist societies but haven’t had broad success. How long does someone have to be there before getting a share of profits? Each hire dilutes everyone else’s share. How do you handle free riders?
