#STLCards catcher Willson Contreras went from a Size 33 catcher’s mitt to a Size 36 mitt tonight for the first time in his career. He did it to alleviate some of the pain in his left hand, which has a deep bone bruise. He was hit on the back of the hand by a pitch on April 3.

#Mets catcher Tomas Nido goes the opposite way for a solo HR off #STLCards RHP Miles Mikolas. Not surprisingly, it came on a 1-2 pitch. Nido doubled earlier in the game ... on a 1-2 pitch. Three of the five hits Mikolas has surrendered have come with two strikes.

#STLCards manager Oli Marmol said CF Dylan Carlson (left shoulder sprain) took BP off a pitching machine today at Busch Stadium and he’ll do the same on Saturday. He said the hope is Carlson “will be in some (Minor League) games by next week.”

#STLCards SS Masyn Winn said he initially injured his back on an awkward swing in San Diego in early April. Since then, Winn has tried sticking to a pregame maintenance routine to keep his back loose and strong. He’s working to try and manage the injury without missing time.
