What I voted against: 1. Adding trillions to the national debt through tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthy. 2. Tariffs that function as taxes paid largely by American consumers and businesses. 3. Slower job growth than in the years immediately preceding this administration. 4. Continuing inflation while repeatedly claiming prices are “falling.” A lower inflation rate is not the same thing as lower prices. 5. Family separations and aggressive immigration policies affecting people with no violent criminal history. 6. Alienating long-standing democratic allies while praising authoritarian leaders. 7. Undermining confidence in elections whenever results are politically inconvenient. 8. Pardoning or defending people involved in attacks on democratic institutions. 9. Politicizing the Justice Department. 10. Attacking universities, journalists, scientists, and judges who disagree with the administration. 11. Rolling back environmental protections while claiming energy independence solves everything. 12. Trade wars that hurt American farmers and manufacturers as much as foreign competitors. 13. Rising utility and energy costs despite promises they would be cut dramatically. 14. Replacing evidence-based policy with grievance politics. 15. Turning every disagreement into a loyalty test. 16. Measuring success by owning the other side rather than solving problems. 17. Treating refugees, immigrants, LGBTQ Americans, and political opponents as threats instead of fellow citizens. 18. A government that is stronger at generating headlines than building consensus. 19. Constant claims of victory that don’t always match the underlying data. 20. Turning the White House into a UFC venue was disgraceful enough—but allowing UFC fighter Josh Hokit to stand on that historic stage and spew vile conspiracy theories that "Michelle Obama is a man" is an absolute abomination. When the People’s House is handed over to bullies to promote hate, it insults the very fabric of American democracy. This rot cannot be normalized.

The Trump family is a great example of how you can have all the money in the world and still be white trash.

So the issue isn’t that false information was shared. The issue is that this false information was shared. That’s basically the Trump standard: prices are down, America is in a golden age, Haitians are eating dogs, and every election a Democrat wins is rigged. Don’t pretend this is suddenly about truth and integrity.

The law may still matter even if federal agents ultimately prevail in court, because it forces courts to define the limits of federal immunity versus state police powers and public accountability interests. Also I love this new love for masks that y’all said were suffocating in 2020. 🙄
