1/ Following the recent inquest into the death of an 80-year-old with coeliac disease and other complex health conditions who was fed gluten in hospital, Coeliac UK is calling for improvements to hospital food guidelines.
Coeliac disease is a serious autoimmune condition, affecting 1 in 100 people in the UK. Vomiting is a common symptom, alongside others like bloating, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Even a small amount of gluten can cause a severe reaction.
