from my perspective, the Yzerplan in 2024 is essentially a gambit that he and the Wings front office are clever enough to rebuild without getting top talent in the lottery. They lost a few lotteries and said "screw it, we are smart enough to do this without tanking"

"Improving steadily towards the playoff bubble every year by signing veterans without having gotten top lottery talent" is not a typical strategy for a rebuilder. But the Wings clearly think they are smart enough to get elite players later in the first round
@JFreshHockey We were a lottery team for like 4 straight years and fell out of the top 3 each time idk what else he was supposed to do lol
@JFreshHockey Yeah, lottery luck has not occurred for them and they obviously are trying something else.
@JFreshHockey My thoughts exactly. The worst part imo is they said screw it right after getting the lottery rules changed. Only year they truely committed to the tank they got Raymond out of it.
@JFreshHockey Do you think this is comparable to the Flyers rebuild
@JFreshHockey Yeah, the Yzerplan would be amazing right now if the Wings had Power and Laf instead of Raymond and Edvinsson
