The local food movement of the last ~20 years has failed to change anything about the way we eat. except to create a status symbol for the rich and educated. Still sub scale and no serious consumer demand.

.@USDA's clean energy and climate-smart agriculture programs are key parts of our work to create new economic opportunities for producers. I was happy to talk to folks who have benefitted from some of these programs today in Pittsburgh.
I'm back in my hometown of Pittsburgh today talking with producers, small business owners, and local officials about the work @USDA is doing to create more economic opportunities and greater prosperity in communities in Pennsylvania and nationwide.
I spent today at @eatharvie, an online grocery store in Pittsburgh that connects directly with producers to deliver their products to thousands of residents of Allegheny county. Businesses like Harvie are key to @USDA's goal of providing locally-grown foods closer to home.
