July 25th, Hack4FUTO 5.0 finally came to an end. For the past few weeks, I had the opportunity to serve as the Technical Lead for this year's hackathon. Beyond planning the technical side of the event, I spent most of my time working with builders — running Solana workshops, mentoring teams, reviewing ideas, and helping them figure out where blockchain actually made sense in their projects. Seeing students who had never touched Solana before build and present blockchain powered applications was easily one of the best parts of the experience. None of this would have been possible without the amazing team I got to work with @HeIsJoel0x @amarachii_e @thatbwoysammyj @Bigdennis Everyone put in countless hours to make sure the event came together, and I'm really proud of what we pulled off. A big thank you as well to @SuperteamNG and our other sponsors for believing in what we're building and investing in student developers. To every team that participated: thank you for showing up and building. I hope this is just the beginning for many of the projects we saw. Until the next @Hack4Futo

The cat is finally out of the bag.👀 My Team and I were on ground to execute months of planning and preparation for the 1st arrival of Cleva in the southeast at the biggest Tech Hackathon in the SE @Hack4Futo 3 Proposals 2 Rejections Multiple Calls 1 YES. My heart is so glad that we've burnt Cleva into the hearts and mind of my FUTO students and showing them that earning in USD as a freelancer, a remote worker and as a builder is not a fantasy but a reality they also can experience. Thank you for trusting me as your lead @clevabanking I had a lot of fun. And now i can finally say, My watch is ended.

During the covid, I was obsessed with motors. I'd spend hours taking them apart, trying to understand how they worked. Eventually, that curiosity became, "What if these things could think?" That question led me to Arduino, then Python, software engineering generally. Around that time, I met @pleasantbalogun. Seeing someone my age building incredible things completely changed what I thought was possible. I probably asked him more questions than anyone should have to answer. 😅 Those experiences eventually led me to choose FUTO (far from home + software engineering, it made sense at the time, it still does). Looking back, that decision changed my life. The FUTO tech community gave me my first real opportunities. I got my first laptop from @hackSultan through the love and support of this community (and somehow won an extra ₦50k around that same time 😭 @Kynsofficial + Sultan Migwo o 🙏). More importantly, I found people who shaped my career through Flutter, @SuperteamNG, hackathons, open source, and countless conversations that pushed me forward. Fun fact, I never won any previous Hack4FUTO. But somewhere along the way, I made myself a promise: If I ever got the chance to organize it, I'd make it bigger than anything we'd done before. For almost a year, my colleagues and I worked towards that goal. We wanted: ➥ A bigger prize pool. ➥ More tracks, because tech is much bigger than just software. ➥ More opportunities for more people to win. ➥ Better organization. ➥ An experience we'd all be proud of. Last weekend, we finally got to see it come alive. 🏆 Over ₦5,000,000 in prizes. 🎁 15+ prizes awarded. 🛠️ Multiple tracks across different areas of technology. ❤️ Several hundreds of students building, learning, and connecting. Watching people ship projects, celebrate wins, and discover what's possible reminded me why communities matter. Someone attending this year's Hack4FUTO might get the same spark I got, in this community. And if that happens, every late night, every meeting, every challenge was worth it ❤️.
