My health insurance company has decided that I, an insulin-dependent Type 1 diabetic, only need to test my blood sugar 5 times a day, down from the 6 they previously “allowed” Note to reader: if I only knew my blood sugar at 5 points throughout the day, I’d be dead.
@Kidfears99 Is it because you use a CGM? My Endo has warned me she has patients on Dex that their insurance no longer covers test strips because of the "no finger sticks" thing...my Endo submits my logs to my insurance so they know I need to test 8 to 12 times a day so they fill my strip RX
@HKMaryKate @Kidfears99 That no finger sticks thing is nuts. I'm on a Tandem pump with Dexcom G6. Last week my pump bit the dust just out of the blue. I had given away all my syringes and only had one needle end for my pen. I had no way to get my BG off my Dexcom without my pump.
@HKMaryKate @Kidfears99 Which is infuriating bc Dexcom ALSO says test when there's a diff between the # & how u feel, and notes that very high & very low results are less accurate. Plus during exercise BG #s often change faster than Dex can keep up.
