Semiconductor stocks are the new leaders of the market: Micron, $MU, has contributed ~1.4 percentage points to the S&P 500's +8% gain over the last 6 months, the largest contribution of any index constituent. This comes as the stock rallied +188% over this period. AMD, $AMD, ranks 2nd with a ~0.9 percentage point contribution after surging +158%. Apple, $AAPL, and Intel, $INTC, follow with ~0.8 percentage point contributions as their stocks gained +20% and +205%, respectively. Broadcom, $AVGO, Nvidia, $NVDA, and Sandisk, $SNDK, each added ~0.4 percentage points with returns of +9%, +5%, and +395%, respectively. A handful of chip stocks are powering the broader market.

In the last 6 months since I've owned $MU, the death of Micron has been confirmed on at least 8 occasions, because: 1) Memory demand peaked 6 months ago 2) NO HELIUM! (remember that? Because of strait of hormuz blockade 🤣) 3) Google Memory Algo is 6x more memory efficient 4) AI is in a bubble that's about to burst 5) Chinese Memory Makers about to flood the market 6) Hyperscalers are scaling back 7) Hyperscalers have over-built AI capacity 8) DRAM Prices are falling! In the meantime, Micron revenue has gone from: - $13.6 Billion in Q1 - UP 75% QoQ to $23.8 Billion in Q2 - UP ANOTHER 75% QoQ to $41.5 Billion in Q3 And expected to go up to $50.7 Billion in current quarter, up 350% year-over-year! I'm starting to think that the people predicting Micron's death might not know what they're talking about. But what do I know!?

Photonics stocks are trying to find a low here. $AXTI is finally trying to find a low after 3 months of downtrend. $LITE remains the strongest in my opinion from the photonics sector. $AAOI is trying to find a low as well. $SIVE still weaker like AXTI, but trying.

Hedge funds are piling into US semiconductor stocks: Last week, hedge funds purchased the most US semiconductor stocks in at least 3.5 years. This follows the 2 largest consecutive weekly sales since June 2024. As a result, semiconductor stocks now account for 10% of total hedge fund exposure.
