Just paid my ARF Can’t play it as close to the edge as I once used to …not because I was ‘ard innit’- more because I was enjoying the party season too much. A reminder from an older, wiser person saved me. I am now that older, wiser person so stop partying and pay your ARF!

Dental professionals-if you are getting your kitchen done would you 1.Get everything as cheap as you can-labour &materials? 2.Go mid range on cost? 3. Pay extra for quality if you can afford it (may have to give up a holiday to do so)? Your answer is the mindset of your patients

Thanks to your comments, I’ve drafted a list of the people who should be called up for Britain’s civilian military duty first. 1. Women in their 40s/ 50s - furious, absolutely sick of everyone & everything, used to surviving in harsh conditions - i.e. their own bodies 1/3
2. Women in their 60s/ 70s - can kill you with a single look, armed with wooden spoons & slippers, can rustle up enough food for an army from a single potato 3. Mothers of toddlers - used to dealing with dictators, no longer need sleep, consider being drafted a lovely rest 2/3
4. Teachers - can control unruly groups prone to violence with a single AH and fierce eyebrow 5. Parents of teenagers - their entire life is a battlefield so they wouldn’t notice being on an actual battlefield. Also have fond memories of wearing combat trousers in the 90s. 3/3

It’s not ‘nanny state’ to save children pain and the NHS a fortune. Decay is the most common preventable disease in children - and impacts on their ability to eat, to sleep and to learn Tens of thousands of school days are lost as a result.

@toothfairyblog I remember “the nanny state” being used as a derogatory term last time labour were in power, it’s bizarre that people wouldn’t want to reduce the pain and suffering caused by tooth decay
@toothfairyblog Not that long ago this government were instructing the entire population on how to effectively wash its hands. Showing kids effective oral hygiene is a belting idea as in my experience (40 yrs as dentist) a high proportion of adults don’t know themselves so can’t teach this!

@FulhamDentist I have seen posts where they have said that it's about cash,not wanting GDC to benefit. Dunno why because interest rates were bad for so long. It isn't like some bod at GDC hq is sat looking at the screen "oh no, Bob hasn't paid yet" Pay it and forget it. 😄
@FulhamDentist I saw a post from someone whose card was being declined for technical reasons. Imagine if that was NYE? Just not worth the grief. Genuinely don't understand why people leave it late, they may be keeping their money longer but the GDC don't care and will win in the end
