Periodically I’ve posted about experiences with will contests. When a man dies with a significant estate (or even smaller estate) - the knives come out among his children/heirs. Even if they got along before, they become grotesque, selfish beasts. Human nature.

@FischerKing64 I am already lining up hitmen to deal with my siblings. Nothing is going to stop me from getting those clubs.
@FischerKing64 The grudges that come out of these estate fights last the rest of their natural born lives, and sometimes into the next generation.
Death can do some real funny things to people. Even those who are “Nice” can turn into very not nice people when dealing with death. I believe it’s because we were never created to die. If not for Adam and Eve messing it up in the garden, we wouldn’t die. That will change someday, for those who believe, but until then we will have to deal with it the best we can. Jesus is there for everyone to lean on when you go through the inevitable loss of someone you love.
@FischerKing64 Saw it firsthand. My grandmother and her siblings split for almost 10 yrs when my great grandmother died. And she didn't even have any money. They just went crazy.
@FischerKing64 My neighbor’s Will was changed when she was dying of Alzheimer’s. Disaster ensued. A lawsuit. No one’s talking to each other.
I love my sisters too much to fight over something like dividing up estates after my father passes. Personally, I would respect the wishes of my father's will, and if there was any reason why I wouldn't get anything, I wouldn't put much importance into it. I understand not everyone is like that
@FischerKing64 Yeah, better or worse, get a will. To the people you don't really care much for, but they might have some argument, they get $1 dollar.
@FischerKing64 We’re fortunate. Hasn’t happened in our family. I really haven’t even seen it in extended family. I know it’s out there, but I have never had any personal contact with it.
@FischerKing64 At first I thought you meant a contest of wills, like a staring contest or arm wrestling.
@FischerKing64 Man you're not kidding. One of my best friends runs an estate law firm and the stories I hear give me cold chills. Like...family with blood ties throwing each other to the wolves so they can get their cut.
