Mocha is going in for exploratory surgery today. It's a hail mary attempt to save his life. He's got reduced Liver and Gallbladder functionality, a large mass on his Spleen, and two angry Lymph Nodes that we're hoping aren't also cancer. He's only three and previously survived Disseminated Ideopathic Myofascitis due to Chemo and a LOT of care. Put simply he's had it rough and the odds are against him here. During the surgery we're bringing in both Frog and Toad two of our largest ferrets as transfusion donors. Ferrets don't have blood types which makes this considerably less complicated but still difficult. This makes sure there is a ready fresh blood supply should it be needed. Rescue is hard as hell sometimes and nature doesn't care what is or isn't fair. We're going to do our best for him here and hope everything goes well.

Sometime in the quiet hours of the night, old man Captain Jack set sail on his final voyage, softly and without fanfare, leaving behind the warmth of his little presence in our hearts. Jack lived a long life full of small joys (other ferrets, he had decided, were not part of these joys of course), and after a very long battle with Insulinoma, he is at peace. We are heartbroken, but grateful for the time he was in our lives. Fair winds and following seas, Jack. May the waves be warm, the treats endless, and the treasure always within reach.

Today we had 7 ferrets transferred to us from another rescue in an emergency case. Because of you we're able to work with a network of other rescues and the humane society on cases like this. Thank you for supporting us. ferrets.live

Stinky and Finch were dropped off today by their loving family who unfortunately were having a hard time affording vet care in their older ages. Stinky is probably 4 and Finch is 8. Finch has a cyst on his head that will need to be drained and removed

Captain Jack had his checkup today, and just like Eddie yesterday he continues to do surprisingly well for his age! His heart is a tiny bit big but maintaining well, his blood work is beautiful, and no mystery tumors or lumpy bumps on xray / ultrasound! He is getting some med adjustments for his blood sugar but other than that he's just fine :)

Eddie's checkup went well, his heart is much better after a year of meds and he's totally healthy other than that and his garbage mouth 🥳 He gets his teeth pulled in January, tomorrow is his 8th birthday
