There’s enough dangerous and shitty medical misinformation right now that nobody needs this noise, especially as we have continued to see record overdose deaths (driven by fentanyl and fentanyl analogs).

bUt ThE pAtCh! Well the patch contains a new combination product - fentanyl plus an alcohol or glycol - that isn’t the same as fentanyl powder on the street and still can’t absorb through skin in any meaningful fashion
Fentanyl patches deliver fentanyl through skin, so therefore fentanyl on the street poses an exposure risk, right? WRONG! /a #WTFentanyl thread/
Fentanyl is an old, well studied molecule that has very well known chemical and physical properties. Skin absorption isn’t one of them. “Rapid heart beat” is also literally the opposite of the effect that fentanyl has. We need to stop perpetuating harmful drug myths from 2017.
