@arghavan_salles And yet the average American man dies 6 years younger and is 3.5x more likely to kill himself than the average American woman. So maybe the healthcare misogyny is just a rounding error vs women’s inherent privilege in being born more robust in the first place.

@pfau During development and after learning, REM sleep prunes most newly-formed spines but strengthens surviving spines, facilitating memory consolidation and subsequent learning (Li 2017). Elephant seals enter (vulnerable) REM when on deep dive spirals below their predators (K-Bar 23)
@pfau The direction of eye movements during REM sleep reveals the virtual head direction of the dreaming mouse (Senzai 2022). Opto-inhibiting theta rhythm during REM sleep after learning impairs recall (Boyce 2016).

Check out Ellie Benoit's Rihel lab preprint. Ellie went to test whether NA is required for zebrafish drug induced rebound sleep. Spoiler alert: it isn't, and losing NA even *enhances* rebound! Bonus: another demo of Crispr F0 KOs matching stable KOs. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
